11/24/98 Reveal 101b Released! Tuesday, Nov. 24 - 10:30 PM EST As promised, Reveal has been released to the public. Right as I was about to post on 101a, RaV sent me a copy of 101b to post, which has a few bug fixes. Reveal is great program that can run with another shell or as a stand-alone, and gives you incredible customization control of your operating environment. Those of you out there who love LiteStep don't have to worry, Reveal can run right on top and even use LiteStep modules! Remember, this is still a developers release so read the documentation a million times to get an understanding of how it works. If you need some help, or are interested in developing for Reveal, go to #reveal on Efnet IRC. eXtreme Mixup As noted last week, copies of the Office 2000 Consumer Pack were handed out to visitors at Microsoft eXtreme. However, in many theaters across the country, the CD kits did not arrive in time. Microsoft promised to mail out the kits to visitors and today confirmation e-mails were sent. But it seems Microsoft may have made a second mixup, because visitors who did recieve their kits also recieved the e-mail. Two sets of Office 2000 for some? The kits should arrive in a couple of weeks, meaning many people are gonna have a very merry Christmas. IE 5 Build 1120.1 Sent Out Tuesday, Nov. 24 - 9:42 PM EST Microsoft has shipped out a new Internet Explorer release to testers. The new IE build number is 1120.1 (5.00.1011.2001), while the Outlook Express build number is slightly older, 1113.1 (5.00.1011.1301). The first two digits meaning the month and the date, and the .1 meaning it was the first build that day. So far the feedback on this build has been positive. Testers note that many important bug fixes have been added since the Beta 2 release. This build is only for IE 5 testers and we probably won't see another public release until Beta 3. eFX v0.4.0 Released! Here's a clip from their website: Basically, WindowFX and WindowBlinds have in common the features that change Windows 95/98/NT into a particular personality. WindowBlinds goes beyond those features and adds additional system enhancements like changing the toolbar styles to flat, giving folder windows backgrounds and other goodies we come up with along the way.
